According to the EPA, "Concern about indoor exposure to mold has been increasing as the public becomes aware that exposure to mold can cause a variety of health effects and symptoms, including allergic reactions." Not only does this lead to an increase in health problems, but it also creates potential liability issues for building managers and school boards.
Mold can be caused by a variety of sources in buildings but it is always associated with the presence of moisture in the environment. One of the most common sources of this moisture is leaky roofs often related to delayed or insufficient maintenance.
